Ask Obama to Preserve Safety-Net Programs on Facebook!
Tell the President Not to Balance the Budget on the Backs of our Nation’s Most Vulnerable
President Obama will be hosting a Facebook Townhall next Wednesday, April 20th, to connect with Americans across the country. This is a unique opportunity for Hunger Relief Advocates to interact with the President directly about key safety net programs that are at risk.
Here’s How It Will Work:
President Obama will appear with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg at Facebook headquarters to answer questions live for about an hour on Wednesday, April 20 at 4:45pm EST/1:45pm PST. You can watch the event and submit a question on either Facebook or the White House’s Website, so you DO NOT need to belong to Facebook to participate.
Facebook will be selecting representative questions from the thousands submitted. Therefore, the more often a particular question or type of question is asked, the more likely it will be selected for the President to answer. That’s why we need as many Hunger Relief Advocates as possible to submit our question about protecting food assistance and safety net programs that our most vulnerable citizens depend on.
Please be sure to view the event and take action by submitting our question about preserving federal programs that provide support and relief for our nation’s hungry:
"As a supporter of Feeding America and my local food bank, I believe we must not balance the budget on the backs of low-income people and urge you to protect safety-net programs like SNAP from harmful cuts. Can you talk about your commitment to protecting the integrity of the safety-net?"
