Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act

The efforts of Hunger Advocates like you are making a real difference in moving child nutrition legislation forward. With just a few legislative days left before Congress adjourns for August recess, Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) is trying to bring the child nutrition bill to the Senate floor. Our leaders in Washington are hearing us, but we need to keep up the pressure!

Senator Lincoln, who chairs the Senate Agriculture Committee, is working hard to get a child nutrition bill passed, and to do it, she says she will speak on the floor of the Senate every day until they take action.

“Mr. President, I come to the floor today with a simple request—I come to the floor to ask for just eight hours of my colleagues’ time…

“…eight hours for this body to pass the bi-partisan “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act” that will reauthorize our federal child nutrition programs and address two of the greatest threats to the health and security of America’s children: hunger and obesity."
